The district of South Kohala contains a very diverse land and environment. Just north of Kona much of the land is overrun by barren lava fields. Much of the coastline here has beautiful hidden beaches with crystal turquoise waters. Many of the Big Islands top resort's can be found along this coast line.
South Kohala District Overview: South Kohala receives on average 280 days of clear weather a year, with temperatures ranging from the 80s in the day to the low 60s at night. As you continue northward in South Kohala you go up into the Kohala mountains towards the town of Waimea. Waimea is a modern ranch town and home of Parker Ranch. Parker Ranch is the second largest landholding in the state and one of the largest working ranches in the world. Once within the rolling gree hills and old stone fences of the range, it is easy to forget that this is Hawaii and not pastures in Kentucky or Europe or Australia. District Highlights:
